KODIAC Album Identity and Branding
I was requested by my bandmates in KODIAC to create and develop a visual identity for the release of our new LP "Being and Nothingness." It is a common theme among previous album identities to have the artwork contain a very simple two-to-three color palette. The colors chosen include a dark red, black and white. These colors give the artwork and identity a powerful impact in appearance. The four panel cover represents the concept of the album, broken into four different sections (one for each song on the four tack album). Artwork is a digital reproduction of a protagonist and the dark experience they are enduring. This pertains to the concept of the album. For the release of the album there will be numerous collectibles. These collectibles consist of a physical release that contains a sticker in it's packaging. This release would also translate into a special edition vinyl of the album to be available for purchase on the bands webstore. The album would be streamed and shared on major social media sites such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and BandCamp. The website for the band contains tour dates, merch, photos and the option to contact the band for any press/personal matter. A music video has been created for the initial "single" release from the band and will be hosted on the home page of the bands website. This video was directed by Alexander Dickmann, Matthew Washausen. All post editing was done by Alexander Dickmann. The video features a figure living within the "soundless dark." The character struggles with internal demons in discovering the light. The video is meant to emit uncomfort and loneliness.
